- Batwoman series from Greg Berlanti in development at The CW
(Date: 17 July 2018)
- It turns out Greg Berlanti’s plans for Batwoman extend far beyond the annual Arrowverse crossover. The CW is developing a script for a Batwoman series for 2019, EW has learned. While there’s no casting news as of yet, the character will make her debut in this year’s DC crossover event, as Arrow star Stephen Amell announced in May. EW has also learned that the forthcoming crossover will include Arrow, The Flash, and Supergirl — but not DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. The series, which has only reached a script-development deal at this point, will be written by Caroline Dries, who is also executive producing alongside Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Geoff Johns (under his new Mad Ghost Production banner). The annual DC crossover event is slated to air in December.

- Smallville alum Sam Witwer joins Supergirl season 4 as Agent
Liberty (Date: 17 July 2018)
- Supergirl has lured in yet another Smallville vet! Sam Witwer, who starred on Smallville season 8 as Doomsday, has joined the CW superhero drama’s upcoming fourth season in the series regular role of DC Comics character Agent Liberty. In the show’s interpretation on the character, Agent Liberty is the ruthless and terrifying founder and figurehead of Children of Liberty, a hate group that supports a human-first world order. According to a description from the show’s producers, he’s “a brilliant orator in the guise of a family man” and the scariest thing about him is how easily he can convince people that he’s right. Given that Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and the DEO tend to be pro-alien integration, it’s definitely fair to assume they won’t get along with Agent Liberty and his Children of Liberty.

- DC Universe Announces Fourth Live-Action Series: Stargirl (Date: 19 July 2018)
- The release date for DC Universe is still set for “fall 2018,” but we have more information about the streaming service. Stargirl joins the previously announced Titans, Doom Patrol and Swamp Thing live-action dramas. Other original content already announced includes an animated adult-aimed Harley Quinn series and a new season of the fan-favorite Young Justice cartoon, sub-titled Outsiders. Earlier this morning the pricing options for DC Universe were released, with annual subscriptions to the service running $74.99 and $7.99 for a monthly fee.
